I am frequently asked about cameras, equipment, and other general inquiries about my career in wildlife photography. To ensure I can give people all of my recommendations in a quick and concise manner, I’ve put together a list of all of the gear I have used and continue to use in the field. I hope it helps! If you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out.

 Cameras

Nikon D3500 Bundle with AF-P 70-300mm.

An exceptional and affordable entry-level camera.

Nikon D500

Flagship crop-sensor DSLR.

Nikon Z5 + FTZ Adapter Bundle

My current camera body. Mirrorless full frame.

LEnses

Tamron 150-600mm Di VC G2

Huge reach, affordable, and crisp. Currently my favorite lens to use in the field.

AF-P 70-300mm FX

A VERY sharp and portable zoom from Nikon. Amazingly fast and silent autofocus capabilities.

Nikon 500mm PF

Compact size and 500mm - what’s not to love? An excellent prime lens without breaking the bank.

Tripods

Neewer Carbon Fiber Tripod

I’ve beat the hell out of this tripod and it’s still going. Rugged, lightweight, and has a monopod built-in.

Manfrotto Travel Tripod

Fluid movement, steady mount, and easy deployment. What’s not to love?

Electronics

Anker SD Card Reader

Fast and reliable, unlike most knockoff readers. This thing consistently reads at 100MBps for me, which is essential for downloading thousands of RAW files at once. Never go cheap on an SD card reader.

WD Elements 2TB Hard Drive

Affordable and portable storage, necessary for backups during travel. It always helps to have an extra 2TB to organize your important backups. I’ve used mine for years without fail.

USB-C SD/Media Reader

Sometimes I can’t make it back to the computer and need to upload to my cell phone or tablet to convert my RAW files. This little gadget allows me to publish on the go.

Clothing

Quietwear Neck Cover

If you’ve seen any pictures of me on Instagram, you’ve seen this mask. I absolutely love this thing. Comfortable and breathable. Surprisingly warm too, although it works great for the spring as well.

Scentlok Windproof/Waterproof Jacket

Never be cold or wet ever again.

Muckboots

Probably the best boots I’ve ever owned. Comfortable and completely waterproof. Great for stalking or sitting.
